Description
The Public Library of the State in Ciudad Real, is one of the 53 Public Libraries of the State, of state ownership and management transferred to the Community Board of Castilla-La Mancha. This Library, as the State Public Library, is part of the Spanish Library System, and also of the Castilla-La Mancha Library System.
The Library's mission is to satisfy the reading and information needs of all citizens, facilitating their access to culture, knowledge, training, information and leisure, in a free and free way.
The library has its origin in the funds of the convents confiscated in the 19th century.
In 1896 it became the Provincial Library.
In 1957 the project of the new building began by the architect Miguel Fisac, which will be inaugurated in March 1960.
Its director on this date will be Isabel Pérez Valera, from whom it will take the name by Ministerial Order of November 19, 1976.
In 2003, a project signed by José Luis Martín Clabo was launched for the construction of a new building.
In 2006 the first stone was laid and on December 23, 2010 it opened its doors to the public.
