Description

Located just 17 kilometers from Santander, in the Pisueña valley (an old abandoned iron mine), is the Cabárceno Park, the most environmentally friendly leisure environment with animals on the entire peninsula.

The most striking feature of this center is the semi-freedom regime in which many of the species it houses are found. Bears, wolves, rhinos ... they have a wide area suitable for their habitat in which they freely develop their lifestyle.

Although this situation may make it difficult for the animals to see, it is more than evident that their health and activity are significantly improved compared to those of a traditional zoo. The Cabárceno Park has more than 400 species that cover the 750 hectares that the park has; large mammals, as well as a bird show, a center for farm animals and herbivores, and numerous exotic species.

The Cabárceno Park not only acts as an educational center, but also dedicates a large part of its efforts to research on the conservation of endangered species, whose diet is regulated by veterinary experts.

Species. Flora and fauna

Nature, fun and respect for animals, this is the Cabárceno Park. A natural environment hidden in the Cantabrian valley of Pisueña in which more than 400 species live in 750 hectares that make up the park in semi-freedom. And it is that Cabárceno is much more than a conventional zoo, along its more than 20 kilometers of route you will not only be able to know the habitats in which bears, wolves or rhinos live, but you will also be able to enjoy its activities and educational demonstrations so that all its visitors can learn a little more about the most impressive animal species on earth.

  • Cabárceno has a great variety of animal species: Tigers, jaguars, rhinos, hyenas, ostriches, elephants, bears, kangaroos, gorillas, wolves, sable antelopes, water buffalo, llamas, cobos, hippos, lions, deer, asses, cheetahs, lynxes , bison, camels and dromedaries, emus, zebras, fallow deer, warthogs, horses and a long etcetera. All of them are detailed in a guide that facilitates the organization of the natural park itself.
