Description

Linnanmäki is the oldest and most popular amusement park in Finland, located in Alppila, Helsinki. Linnanmäki has more than 40 amusement parks, a wide variety of games, restaurants and cafes. The most popular device in the amusement park is the wooden roller coaster, which has enchanted fans since 1951.

The Children's Day Foundation maintains and develops the Linnanmäki amusement park to raise funds for child protection work. Over the years, we have raised a total of about € 120 million for child protection work. By having fun at Linnanmäki, all customers support child protection work!

The Children's Day Foundation was founded by six child protection organizations: the Finnish Federation for Child Welfare, the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare, Barnavårdsföreningen i Finland, the Association of Primary Homes and Housing, Best for Children and Save the Children.

Linnanmäki's story

Linnanmäki's story is based on 1907, when Children's Day events were organized in Finland for the first time on the Swedish model. The children's days were attended, for example, by lotteries, dances and rental circuses and events raised money for child protection work.

On the sixth day of March 1950, the birth of the Linnanmäki amusement park was recorded in the minutes of the organizing committee for Children's Day, as the city of Helsinki had awarded the fairground a Vesilinnanmäki place on the Helsinki Alppila for three years. Construction work was carried out at a rapid pace and the amusement park, reminiscent of a shanty town, was opened to the public as early as Pentecost on May 27, 1950.

As Children's Days activities expanded and amusement park activities opened, financial responsibility increased and the Children's Day Foundation was established. In 1957, the foundation was founded by the Finnish Federation for Child Welfare, Barnavårdsföreningen i Finland, the Association of Primary Homes and Housing, the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare, Parasta Lapsille ry and Save the Children.

With the long-term development of the years, Linnanmäki has become an amusement park loved by all, still raising funds for child protection work every year. Throughout history, more than 120 million child protection grants have been raised, converted into ordinary money.
