A new breath from the port of Värati

One of the largest fish factories in Estonia was located in Tõsta Värati County, which operated until the collapse of the Soviet Union. The Värati fish factory and harbor complex included dozens of buildings, and nearly a hundred people were offered work. After completing the works on the fish factory, the entire port area was abandoned for almost 30 years. In 2020, the city of Pärnu decided to give the new owners the opportunity to create a new port and bayside community of Värati.

In August 2020, the renovated Port of Meremaa was opened, together with Meremaa Kohvik. The small guest port of Meremaa has already been embraced by fishermen and other seafarers, and major preparations are underway for the next sailing period.

Based on the warm reception from the locals and those from beyond, Meremaa Kohvik, which started as a family cafe, soon changed its concept and the cafe became Meremaa Resto.

Our food

Meremaa Resto's food is prepared with special care and affection, using only fresh and very high quality ingredients and always giving preference to local products whenever possible. Eggs, herbs, vegetables, fruits, honey, and stronger drinks come to the restaurant from surrounding farms and homes.

The wines have been selected during your visit to Italy, and the choices have been made primarily for authentic and highly enjoyable taste experiences. Several wines from the wine list are exclusively available in Estonia only at Meremaa Resto.

Historically, the port of Meremaa is primarily known as the fishing port of Värat, and thus herring and other fish from Pärnu Bay have been crowned on the local table. In order to bring new flavors to the dining experience with well-known fish delicacies, the restaurant's seafood-rich menu is intertwined with Italian cuisine and delicious pizzas are prepared by hand in a real stone oven.

We hope that the fresh flavors of the Mediterranean along with the house favorites will give the guest a good feeling and the desire to keep coming back!

Families with children are also very welcome in the restaurant. The terrace gives access to a large playground with a swing for babies and rides for older children. We also offer drawing supplies, books and toys for our youngest visitors.
