Parque Ecológico Zacango

The Zacango Ecological Park currently has animals of different species from all over the world, including species that are in some category of risk. Zacango Ecological Park is committed to the conservation and protection of species and to date is an active member of ALPZA (Latin American Association of Zoos and Aquariums) and AZCARM (Association of Zoos, Hatcheries and Aquariums of Mexico).

It was inaugurated on December 11, 1980 and was declared a Protected Natural Area on August 29, 1981 thanks to the efforts of the Government of the State of Mexico.

The Protected Natural Area has 159.22 ha of which Zacango occupies 32 and is built on the former Franciscan Hacienda from the 16th century, which later belonged to the Counts of Santiago and Calimaya, it is considered one of the largest and most beautiful in Latin America.

• The park is divided into 8 different areas where specimens are housed, these are: Aviary, Carnivores, Primates, Herbivores, African, Conservation Education Center, Farm and Herpetarium
• The tour can be done on foot or by train.
• There is also a children's play area in which there is an artificial lake, an Education Center for Conservation in which different educational activities are offered to the public, a souvenir shop, as well as an area of restaurants, shops of various foods, surveillance, official parking for visitors and workers and 7 sanitary modules set up in various areas of the park.
